In Love with An Idiot by Shui Qian Cheng (Chapter 4 Part 3)

As soon as Jian Suiying entered the company the next morning, the secretary told him that Jian Suilin had arrived. He turned to the reception room and there sat Jian Suilin and Li Yu, chatting and laughing.

Two beautiful men sitting together and talking as if a spring breeze had blown over their features–sure was a nice scene on the eyes. Jian Suiying couldn’t help but be a little jealous: Li Yu had never been willing to give him such a gentle and cheerful smile. He knocked on the glass a little unhappily.

The two people in the reception room simultaneously raised their heads, one was beaming, the other had an awkward expression.

Jian Suilin stood up: "Brother."

Jian Suiying pushed open the door and entered, nodding at him: "You’re here."

"I just arrived."

"Where did you go for the past two weeks?"

"We only went as far as Hong Kong. Brother, Dad asked you to come home for dinner tonight. I brought you a present."

Jian Suiying said without much thinking, "Tonight? Sure." Then he took a glance at Li Yu and smiled, "You’re pretty early today."

Li Yu nodded, and said in a formal tone: "President Liang called me today and asked if you have time in the next couple of days. He wanted you to go experience the hot spring in his property hotel."

"Sure, I'll take you relaxing in a few days after I make some time."

Li Yu's eyes flickered, and he didn't say a word.

Jian Suilin said earnestly, "Brother, what can I do?"

"You…" Jian Suiying glanced at him out of the corner of his eye, "Why don't you go run some non-performing assets with Lao Liu and the others. I just bought an asset package from XX bank, and there’s a lot of work to be done. You go report to Lao Liu."

Jian Suilin answered, "Yes."

"Okay, go. Li Yu, you come with me."

Just as the three were about to leave, Jian Suiying's secretary, Xiao Liang, hurried over: "President Jian, your cousin is here again."

Jian Suiying's features twisted immediately: "Here again?"

Xiao Liang said helplessly: "Here again."

Jian Suilin also had an embarrassed expression.

Jian Suiying pointed at his younger brother: "You, don't go now, come with me into the office first. Xiao Liang, you bring him over to my office. Don't waste even a second, and don't let him talk nonsense with people in my company."

"Understood."

Jian Suiying led the two back to the office.

In no time, Xiao Liang came in with a handsome, but somewhat incompetent-looking boy.

"Brother, long time no see! Yo, Xiao Lin Zi is here too."

Jian Suilin nodded at the person who just entered: "Brother Yu."

The person right here is Jian Suiying’s maternal aunt’s only son, Bai Xinyu. How to describe this kid? If you ask Jian Suiying, a brainless dumbass, plain and simple. Bai Xinyu is one of those good-for-nothing second generation young masters with a bottomless pit for a stomach, who’s always looking to do business and, even after getting conned out of a lot of money, refuses to repent, bragging about accomplishing great things one day all day long.

Usually, nothing good happens when he comes looking for Jian Suiying.

Sure enough, as soon as he sat down, he said to Jian Suiying with a mysterious expression: "Brother, listen, a friend recently introduced me to a very good project, which requires little investment but turns out wicked high profits."

Jian Suiying sneered: "If it’s actually that good, why don’t your friend take it for himself?"

"He doesn't have the capacity for it."

"And you do?"

"A million or so isn’t a problem... But my mother insisted that I come to you first, in case I get conned."

"Your mother is very wise." Jian Suiying glared at him, "Can’t you just settle down for a bit and go eat, drink, play, whatever the hell you do? How many times have I told you that you're not suited for business? Do you not understand human language or something?"

Bai Xinyu was very sad: "Brother, don't always talk about me like that. Even if I have potential, your words would have destroyed my self-confidence. I'm twenty-three, and I don't want to stay like this all day. I want to do something to make my parents proud too."

Jian Suiying sighed: "Is that bag you brought information about the project? Let me take a look."

Bai Xinyu quickly handed him the bag.

Jian Suiying took out a not-so-thin stack of documents, speedily flipped through it, and slapped it on the office desk with a “smack”. He pointed at him in angry disappointment: "You brat, ‘do business’ my ass! Why don’t you go home and suckle some milk instead?"

Bai Xinyu made a crying face: "Brother, give me some suggestions instead of always yelling at me…"

Jian Suiying really had no idea what to do about this cousin of his; he’s stupid as a pig and naive to boot, believing all sorts of bullshit people pull out of their asses. He’s also astoundingly thick skinned: he had called him out in front of strangers several times now, yet with a turn of his head, the kid forgets all about it and still cloyingly begs Jian Suiying to introduce business opportunities to him the next time around.

Jian Suiying gets a headache everytime he sees Bai Xinyu. Compared to this sort of younger brother, he felt that Jian Suilin, who was smart and good with people, was reluctantly cuter.

Jian Suiying yelled, "You dare to take on this kind of project? You can't see something this obvious?"

Bai Xinyu stared with wide, innocent eyes, "I really don’t see it..."

Jian Suiying held up the stack of documents in the air: "Xiao Lin Zi."

Jian Suilin immediately came over to take it.

"Take a look at it with Li Yu. Li Yu, you have learned a lot during this time. As for you, Xiao Linzi, I have also invested a lot of money for you to learn. If you two can see the problem, I will give you two an independent project. Any gain will be yours, and any loss will be mine.”

Jian Suilin gave half of the stack to Li Yu, and the two of them studied it with their heads lowered.

Jian Suiying tapped his fingers on the table while staring at Bai Xinyu.

Young Master Bai looked at them anxiously.

After a while, Li Yu raised his head and showed Jian Suiying a page from the documents: "President. Jian, is this a high-voltage line?"

Jian Suiying nodded praisingly, "Yes."

"There can't be any buildings under the high-voltage line, so it's impossible to start construction here."

Jian Suiying said to Bai Xinyu, "Did you hear what he just said? You can't see such an obvious high-voltage line? You didn't even go take a look at the site?"

Young Master Bai whispered, "I haven't had time to go yet."

"But you sure had time to hand over your money!"

"N-no, I didn't hand over the money yet, didn't I come here to discuss it with you..."

At this time, Jian Suilin also raised his head: "Brother, the property rights for this place isn’t clear."

Jian Suiying nodded with satisfaction: "Yes. Bai Xinyu, you dimwit! Do you know how much effort it will take to divert the high-voltage line? The property rights of this land isn’t clear enough, and there may be disputes at any time down the line. You only see that it's cheap, why didn’t you think about why it's so cheap?"

Bai Xinyu was so shamed by his words that he shrank his head and dared not look at him. After a long time, he squeezed out a sentence: "So it can’t be done..."

"It can be done."

He raised his head happily: "Brother, you think so? This piece of land is actually worth a lot of money if handled well, just look at the location."

Jian Suiying yelled, "I can do it, but you can't."

Bai Xinyu immediately slumped: "Brother, don't be like this."

"You're right about one thing, this land is indeed worth a lot of money if handled well. So, Li Yu, Xiao Lin Zi, as per what I just said, I'll give you two a chance to put your knowledge into practice, and the two of you will help him with this land."

Bai Xinyu mumbled, "Brother, can they do it?"

Jian Suiying glared at him: "I think they’re better than you." Then he continued, "This project needs at least a year and a half to complete. You two think carefully about it. If you want to take it on, you can't quit halfway."

Jian Suilin immediately said, "I can do it."

Li Yu hesitated. Then, he glanced at Jian Suilin, and said, "I can do it too."

Jian Suiying secretly rejoiced. This way, Li Yu would not get rid of him at least until the end of the project: "Bai Xinyu, you have a lot of money, right? For this project you provide the funds, and they’ll do the work. You get 60% of the profit, they each get 20%."

Bai Xinyu was a little reluctant, "Won’t I lose if they can’t do it?"

"What are you afraid of with me helping them? I have 80% confidence in this project. If you don’t want to do this then drop it.”

Bai Xinyu glanced at his shrewd and capable cousin and gritted his teeth: "Brother, I believe in you."

Jian Suiying nodded with satisfaction: "Li Yu, go draft a contract. The contract you wrote last time wasn’t good enough, go ask your big sister Liang for advice and bring the finished version to me."

"Got it."

"Xiao Lin Zi, go take a look at the land with your brother Yu, actually inspect it, and write a report when you come back."

"Yes, brother."

"’Brother’? You think you’re at home?"

"Ah, President Jian."

"Okay, go."

All three stood up to leave when Jian Suiying suddenly said, "Li Yu."

Li Yu turned his head.

“Have lunch with me."

Li Yu thought someone had invited Jian Suiying for a meal, but Jian Suiying didn't call the driver and told him to drive the car instead. The two drove for more than half an hour and arrived at a vegetarian restaurant.

Jian Suiying smiled and said, "The food made by this restaurant is very authentic. I went to the Nanshan Temple in Sanya one year, and there was a restaurant with really good food. I looked everywhere after returning to Beijing, and only this one could compare. I noticed that you don't eat a lot of meat, so I have long wanted to have you try this."

It was only then that Li Yu realized it was just the two of them. He had no choice but to follow Jian Suiying in.

Jian Suiying chose a particularly secluded corner to sit down in. There were not many people eating at noon, maybe two or three, and practically no one could see the place where the two of them were.

Li Yu started talking with Jian Suiying about business affairs as soon as he sat down and discussed the project that he and Jian Suilin would be responsible for. When Jian Suiying talks business it's like he’s a different person, and he can be many times more proper.

But when the dishes arrived, it was no longer suitable to talk about business. Jian Suiying immediately showed his true colors, gallantly putting food on Li Yu’s plate and pouring him beverages.

Li Yu was much calmer than the day when he first learned about the thoughts Jian Suiying had towards him, and there was no obvious disgust and impatience on his face as he lukewarmly went back-and-forth with him.

After the two of them finished eating, Jian Suiying took out a small black flannel box from the pocket of his trousers and pushed it in front of Li Yu, smiling very affectionately: "Li Yu, I saw this while shopping the other day, and I think it’ll suit you very well."

Li Yu glanced at him: "Brother Jian, don't be like this, do you think I'll accept it?"

Jian Suiying was not discouraged at all: "It's not anything expensive, just a token of my thoughts. You work very hard, don’t you? Why don't you take a look?"

Seeing that Li Yu had no intention of moving, Jian Suiying opened the box himself. Inside laid a platinum tie clip embedded with a relatively low-key diamond.

Li Yu closed his eyes, seemingly trying to suppress his anger, and said darkly, "Brother Jian, do you think this is appropriate, using the same tricks you’d use to please a woman on me?"

Jian Suiying felt particularly wronged: "What do you mean ‘to please a woman’? I have never tried pleasing any woman in my life except for my mother. I was born bent."

Li Yu really didn’t expect anyone to talk about this matter as if he’s proud of it..

Jian Suiying took advantage of his shock to gently hold his hand: "I just simply wanted to give a gift to someone I like."

Li Yu withdrew his hand without mercy and said coldly, "Don't waste your time on me, there’s no way I’m going to accept it.”

Jian Suiying put on a melancholy expression: "I know you will refuse it, but I won't give up so easily."

This meal had left Li Yu feeling very nauseous.

Jian Suiying was actually pretty great in every other aspect, most of the time; if it weren’t for the thoughts he harbored towards Li Yu, they would get along very happily. As things are, Jian Suiying not only annoyed him, but also made him feel awkward. He had liked Jian Suilin for so many years, and never in a million years had he imagined that one day he’d be pursued by the elder brother of the person he liked.

Eldest master Jian did not manage to give out his gift in the end, and he disappointedly threw it in the car.

Jian Suilin returned in the afternoon and brought back some photos and other information regarding the land. He briefly described and analyzed them with Jian Suiying.

After listening to everything, Jian Suiying gave him an idea on how to tackle this project and then told him: "This time, watch your brother Yu closely and tell me as soon as possible if anything comes up. It's not easy for my aunt's family to make money; don't let him lose everything. You know he's a little bit of a two hundred and fifty, so if there’s any problems with this project I'll talk to you first."

Jian Suilin nodded and said, "I will keep an eye on him."

"Hmm. You can go now."

Jian Suilin stood up: "Brother, let's leave together tonight."

"Why?"

"Aren’t you coming home for dinner tonight?"

"Oh, you can drive back on your own, I still have a few things to do. I'll be back before dinner."

Jian Suilin was a little disappointed: "Oh."

Jian Suilin turned around and was about to leave, but when he reached the door, Jian Suiying stopped him.

"Xiao Lin Zi, when are your results coming out?"

"The day after tomorrow."

Jian Suiying tapped the table lightly with his long fingers: "You’re still driving Dad's car?"

"Yeah."

"Like I promised last time, I’ll give you a new car. Pick it yourself."

"Brother, we have so many cars at home, you don't need to buy another one just for me."

Jian Suiying laughed: "When a man grows up he needs his own car, it’s just not the same. Besides, my car is too flamboyant and not suited for you. Pick it yourself, but don't make it too flashy. You are, after all, still a student, and our Jian family is not that kind of family, we can't afford to lose face like that, understand?"

"Understood, thank you brother."

"When the results come out the day after tomorrow, do you have any plans to celebrate?"

Jian Suilin gave a smile: "Brother, what if I don’t do well? What would we be celebrating then?"

Jian Suiying rolled his eyes at him: "Why don’t you think about doing well on the exam first? You don't even have that much confidence in yourself?"

Jian Suilin said: "If Li Yu and I both do well in the exam, we’re thinking of holding a party together, and we’ll invite all our classmates and friends. Will you come?"

"Sure I’ll come, why not?" As long as he can make the time, he’s not giving up any opportunity to be with Li Yu outside of work.

Jian Suilin showed a happy expression.

On the day of the results, Jian Suiying hadn’t gone home because a dinner with some clients came up at the last minute. He, however, did immediately receive a call from home, and Jian Suilin told him excitedly, "Brother, I did well on the test."

Jian Suiying wasn’t surprised. Xiao Lin Zi's grades have been quite good since he was a kid, and his doing well on the exam was expected. Nevertheless, Jian Suiying was still pretty happy. If he could get into X University, Jian Suilin’s career as a government official, if he chooses to go that route, would be much smoother in the future, which is a good thing for their family.

He hung up the phone and quickly called Li Yu's cellphone. The phone rang twice before Li Yu picked it up, voice calm: "Brother Jian."

"Xiao Li Zi, how's it going? Have you checked your results?"

"Yeah, I did."

Jian Suiying listened to the flat tone of his voice and felt his heart sink a little. Did Li Yu not do well? Before he could ask, Li Yu had already stated his score.

Jian Suiying suddenly became happy: "Li Yu, I knew you could do it!"

Li Yu was in a good mood, and gave a soft laugh: "It's about the same as what I expected."

"Congrats congrats, did Xiao Lin Zi call you? You both did pretty well."

"We've been in touch over the internet and I know his results."

Jian Suiying was actually happier about this than about Jian Suilin doing well: "Okay, this time you two finally have a reason to celebrate. Leave this to your Brother Jian. I'll reserve a place for you two, and you can invite as many people as you want and play as you like."

Li Yu said: "No need, Suilin and I have already booked a place."

Jian Suiying didn't give up: "You have to let me do something. Even if not for your sake, Suilin is still my younger brother, right? How about I prepare the alcohol?"

Li Yu frowned out of habit: "My classmates don't drink alcohol, though?"

"Bullshit, you think all students these days are like you? It’s settled then, there’s no way I’m going empty-handed."

Li Yu hadn’t known that Jian Suiying was coming also. He choked on the fact and was silent for a while. Jian Suiying thought he had silently agreed, and thus began plotting about getting Li Yu drunk on that day.

The day of, Jian Suiying let Li Yu and Jian Suilin leave work early and told them to go home, change their clothes, and eat something before the party.

Jian Suiying ordered a couple varieties of alcohol, sent those over, and also told Xiao Liang to prepare a couple dozen PSPs for their classmates and friends. Even if it wasn't to get on Li Yu’s good side, he still had to do something for the reputation of the second young master of the Jian family.

He himself went home, took a shower, put on a face mask, got himself all satisfactorily tidied up, and only then started strolling towards the venue.

Xiao Lin Zi had booked a banquet hall in a five-star hotel and invited just about everyone in his class. Jian Suiying looked at the decorations, which had some thought put into them, and was a little satisfied.

Most of the people here were young and the scene was very lively, and a bunch started screaming as soon as Jian Suiying entered through the door. He had heard something about this from Xiao Lin Zi–a lot of their classmates admired him, male and female. Jian Suiying himself found it quite inexplicable.

With a pink face that looked like a spring breeze, Jian Suilin came to greet him as soon as he entered: "Brother, you're here."

Jian Suiying scanned around the place: "Where's Li Yu?"

"Over there."

Jian Suiying followed where his finger was pointing and looked over. Li Yu was sitting on a sofa, talking to a classmate, and then he started laughing. It’s been a long time since he last saw Li Yu in casual clothes, and that youthful and handsome look was…really attractive.

A group of boys surrounded them and started creating a disturbance. Some of them had played basketball together with Jian Suiying last time: "Brother, your foot’s healed?"

"Haha, it’s been healed for a long time."

"Let's play together next time. You play pretty good, just don't wear those leather shoes next time."

Everyone laughed, and Jian Suiying was in a good mood: "No problem, I'll go with the proper supplies next time."

While talking Jian Suiying moved towards Li Yu.

Li Yu also stood up when he saw him: "Brother Jian."

"Hey, Xiao Li Zi. Sit, everyone sit."

A couple people sat down around the sofa, and a male classmate asked, "Brother, is Li Yu an intern in your company?"

"Yeah, he’s doing a good job."

The male classmate teased, "Brother, don't tire out our handsome Li Yu too much, or you’ll make our school flower sad with heartache." And, when he finished, gave a meaningful glance to the little girl sitting next to Li Yu.

The girl glared at him angrily: "Who’s going to get sad, what nonsense are you talking about?" Then, she gave Li Yu a shy look.

Only then did Jian Suiying notice that there’s a girl next to Li Yu. She was fair-skinned with delicate features, pretty indeed, but Li Yu wouldn't actually like someone with an underdeveloped body like this, right? He stared at the girl with an unhappy feeling in his heart, his gaze a little judgemental, and the little girl’s face flushed red when her eyes met Jian Suiying’s, and she quickly turned her face away.

Jian Suiying deliberately teased her: "Sweetheart, Li Yu doesn’t have an easy job. He has to run around with me all day, working early mornings and late nights, and when things get busy, he doesn't even have time to eat lunch. You really won’t get sad?"

The little girl’s face was so red that it looked like blood was about to come out, and she shook her head vehemently: "No, that has nothing to do with me, I don't..." her voice got lower as she spoke, and the boys around her laughed quietly.

"But if a man wants to do well in life, he can't get there without enduring hardships and wearing himself out. You think things like food and clothes just fall out of the sky? You’re beautiful, so you can just find a rich man to marry, but can a man live off of that? What do you think?"

The little girl didn't dare to look at Jian Suiying's face as her heart almost jumped out of her throat. With his extremely masculine appearance, impeccable figure, and the mature yet bad-boy like air around him, his charm can just about annihilate women of all ages, and it is really not something that a teenage girl can resist.

Li Yu couldn’t stand Jian Suiying bullying a little girl like this so he changed the topic, which made Jian Suiying feel like he was protecting the girl and, in turn, even more jealous. Thus he latched on to the girl and continued, "Sweetheart, you have a boyfriend? I don't think Li Yu’s suitable for you–he's boring, and he doesn’t talk much in a day. What do you think about my brother?"

This set off a storm among the male and female classmates. Young people just love drama, and as soon as these words came out, everyone started making a scene, and the girl, being thin-skinned, was so embarrassed that she almost cried.

Jian Suiying's terrible nature was now, at this time, completely revealed: he had no intention of  letting her go and haphazardly wanted to pair her up with Xiao Lin Zi.

Are you kidding? I’m the one who set eyes on Li Yu, who would dare to steal him away from me? No, not even that–who would dare to even entertain the thought!

Xiao Lin Zi was, at this moment, chatting with people on the other side of the hall, completely unaware that his big brother had already put him on for pre-sale.

Li Yu was pissed. He knew what Jian Suiying was thinking when he saw those squinting eyes with an up-to-no-good expression–It's one thing to embarrass his classmate, but now he wanted to match Suilin up with that girl. There’s an ocean of boys who like this girl, what if Suilin actually fell for her?

God knows what’s going to come out of his mouth if things continue like this, so he made an excuse and pulled Jian Suiying away.

Jian Suiying was also holding a stomach’s worth of anger. There’s definitely something impure between these two, he thought, damn, why does no one care about this evil prepubescent dating!

Li Yu dragged him to the balcony outside and hissed in a low voice, "What are you doing?"

Jian Suiying shook off his arm and hmphed, "What did I do? I'm scouting out a wife candidate for my brother. What, you don’t like it?"

Li Yu had liked Jian Suilin for so many years, of course he didn’t like this, and he said a little bit angrily: "Don't make a fool of yourself, look how you’re embarrassing my classmates. The girl has thin skin, aren’t you embarrassed of yourself, bullying a girl younger than you? B-besides, Suilin doesn't like her."

Jian Suiying's jealousy was about to skyrocket: "Huh, Li Yu, aren’t you the knight in shining armor? So you like that sort of skinny body with no meat to it? Look at her, do you think she has any experience? Li Yu, remember this one thing I say: for men, no matter what kind of relationship, it’s all moot if they don’t get along in bed. As long as they're compatible in bed, it doesn’t matter whether you’re with a man or a woman. You may think that you like women, and you may think that it feels nice to be with a woman, but If you try it with me, I promise you’ll never want a woman again."

In the eyes of a senior gay like Jian Suiying who had been bent for 27 years, there’s no such thing in this world as a “straight” man. As long as men get off that way, there’s no principles to speak of with most of them. He’s extremely confident in his own experience and skills, and now he felt that he had taken the wrong route in the beginning: he should have just poured half a Jin of Baijiu into Li Yu and then took him right there, and after he learns what that feels like, it'll be difficult for Li Yu to not be bent.

Jian Suiying's naked, straightforward declaration made Li Yu go red in the face–Jian Suiying always takes people by surprise with little effort. Li Yu really didn’t know whether to call him extraordinarily brave, or extraordinarily thick-skinned. He hurriedly looked at the doors and windows nervously, and was only relieved when he saw that they were all closed tightly and no one paid attention to them.

His good upbringing in childhood and considerations about Jian Suiying's position made him hold back his temper and not say malicious words: "Brother Jian, regardless of whether I like women or not, you and me are impossible. Be normal, and I can still call you Brother, if you do this again, I…”

Before he could finish his sentence Jian Suiying had already rushed up to him and, seizing the moment Li Yu had been caught off guard, pushed his chest and pressed him against the wall. Jian Suiying’s whole body touched his, and then his mouth was covered.

Li Yu was, after all, young, and never expected that one day he’d be forcibly kissed by a man. Blood rushed to his head in an instant, and he was stunned on the spot. By the time he could react, Jian Suiying had already hooked a hand around his neck and thoroughly savored his lips, tracing Li Yu’s teeth with his tongue. Jian Suiying suckled his tongue, gently pulling back and forth, and the soft and slippery feeling made Li Yu's whole body tremble. It was then that Li Yu learned what kissing was: all those things he did with girls in the spirit of experimentation had been mere touching of lips in comparison.

His brain woke up in the next second. His eyes grew wide, and he bit the tongue hard.

Jian Suiying shrank in pain and then, when he had been unprepared, he was pushed hard by his chest, so hard his breathing stagnated. He fell backward uncontrollably, and he staggered a few steps before collapsing to the ground.

Li Yu rushed forward with a grim face, grabbed Jian Suiying collar, and raised his fist.

Jian Suiying licked the blood from the corner of his mouth and looked at him provocatively.

Li Yu's fist froze in midair, and he hesitated. He's a professional athlete, and his hands can get heavy when he's angry. If he actually laid hands on this guy, Jian Suiying won’t be able to see people for half a month. How to explain this to the whole room of people when he leaves, how to explain this to Suilin…these are all things he must consider.

And while Li Yu was hesitating, Jian Suiying actually laughed, and said as if he had no regard for his life, "Your lips are so soft and so sweet. How about it, I'm good at kissing, right?"

Li Yu, in a fit of anger, hit Jian Suiying’s stomach with his knee.

Jian Suiying held his stomach and coughed for a while, unable to recover for a long time.

Li Yu adjusted his clothes and immediately returned to the hall, not wanting to stay a moment longer.

Jian Suiying wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and showed a smug smile.
